New Products Development Group, Inc. was incorporated by the late Mr. John G. Fontaine, from whom the company’s products evolved, and for whom our company is named.

 

In a professional career spanning 42 years, the late Mr. Fontaine was issued 162 U.S. Patents and was responsible for the development of:

 

  •  The machines that straighten and align the body frames of automobiles and trucks. Trademarked “Easy Liner” and acquired by the Bendix Corporation.

 

  • The Telephone Answering Machine now manufactured by dozens of companies. First trademarked “Code-A-Phone” and acquired by ITT, AT&T, and Bell.

 

  • The first coded remote control system which was part of the telephone answering system now used on satellites, remote telephones, televisions, VCR's, etc.

 

  • The Light Up Message Waiting Buttons on the telephone now used in most hotels was also part of the telephone answering machine development.

 

  • The Automatic Battery Charger now used on many large yachts.

 

  • The Portable Burglar Alarm, for wood or metal doors, manufactured and sold by dozens of different companies, co-invented with son John V. Fontaine, trademarked “Safe House,” and acquired by Tandy.

FONTAINE BRAKE COMPANY was incorporated in June 1989, to manufactur the technologies and patented products developed by New Product Development Group, Inc., 1971.
